Teacher gifts!

My daughter finished her reception year this week at school so I thought I’d write a quick blog about the teacher gifts and cards we made!

I got the idea for the presents from Pinterest – I bought a couple of terracotta pots, sprayed them with blackboard paint and used a chalk marker to write the message, Lily then signed each one. I got the tape measure ribbon from my local fabric shop and added a little best teacher charm to finish it off! The plants in the pots are peace lilies – Lilies from Lily!

Lily also made key rings for her Teacher and teaching assistant, as well as the teaching assistant from the other class who took her for phonics lessons.

The cards were made using Stampin' Up! products, a dog for her teacher from the adorable Bella and friends stamp set

And a cat for her teaching assistant using the equally adorable pretty kitty stamp set. They were both coloured in using aqua painters and ink pads, and personalised using the labeler alphabet stamp set.

Lily designed this good luck card for her phonics teacher who is leaving to go to university for her teaching degree – it again uses the Bellaand friends stamp set but she coloured it in with sharpies!

I’m sure you’ll agree they were sweet gifts and they were well received!

Lily loved her time in reception and knowing how much hard work teachers put in I think they deserve a little recognition and a gift made with love!

Thanks for reading!

Foxy friends!

Continuing on the foxy friends theme here are the makes from the quarterly training I attended a few weeks ago.

This series is based on designs by our lovely team leader Julie – with the z-fold card inspired by a fellow team member Amanda who is amazing at fancy fold cards!

This first card uses the hardwood background stamp which is on my wish list – a very versatile stamp!

The second Julie had made as a new baby card but I changed it up a little. The heart is die cut and raised using foam strips – the photo doesn’t really show off its dimension!

The third is the cute square z fold card, one of my favourites! I’ll definitely be making more of these!! I just love the bunting on the alittle foxy dsp, so cute!

The forth card again Julie had made as a new baby card but I changed it up a bit again and made it a thank you card. I used a sentiment from the Bella and friends stamp set as I thought it suited the paper well!

Finally we also made this adorable little picture – Lily has already claimed it for her bedroom! It uses the large letter framelits; again these are on my wish list as I use the coordinating numbers all the time. They are a lovely font and a great size. There’s great scope to do a whole range of these given the amount of different animals that can be made with the foxy friends bundle. This is certainly one of my favourites at the moment!! I’m neglecting my other supplies!! It also features the labeler alphabet stamp set which has also had a lot of use in the short time I’ve had it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed looking through this adorable set; I had great fun making them!

Jems July Blog Hop - Animals!

Welcome to our July blog hop!

Our theme this month is animals!!

There are so many cute sets featuring animals in the new Stampin’ Up! catalogue it was difficult to choose which to use but I went with the a little foxy suite – no foxes on this first project though!!

I knew I wanted to make both a 3D project and a card this time and started out by making the little gift box.

I used the fox builder punch and foxy friends stamp set to make my cute little cat, he’s punched out of whisper white card stock and the edges are sponged with smoky slate ink.

I used the colours from the a little foxy DSP as inspiration for these 2 projects; I love how they look together! Once I had made the ‘meow’ on the box with the labeller alphabet stamp set I knew I needed to think of a cute saying to go on the coordinating card to tie them both in!

I do love this whole suite - I first used it for my team swaps at our recent team training day.  I started out with a fox, then as they were so small (but also very cute) I felt I should make a second and so the cat followed! I made 16 of each design plus a few extra for my daughter who instantly fell in love with them and watched me fascinated while I was making them!

They each hold a Hershey’s kiss and the project was very much inspired by this lovely ladies video

I completely changed my plans when I saw Hershey’s kisses for sale in a local shop, I had watched a few of Breanda's video’s using kisses already and as Hershey’s kisses remind me of 2 special holidays to Toronto I just had to buy them to use!

We also made some gorgeous cards and a picture at our team training using this same suite of products, I shall share them next week!

Enough rambling from me, please visit my fellow Jems to see what fab animal creations they have produced, just use the images below!

Thanks, Sam x
